Europe’s AI “Super Factories” to Deploy at Least 3 Million GPUs, Nvidia Expected to Be the Biggest Winner

Reports indicate that plans for large-scale artificial intelligence factories in Europe are rapidly advancing, with the latest proposals calling for the deployment of at least 3 million next-generation AI graphics processing units (GPUs). Henna Virkkunen, EU Commissioner for Technological Sovereignty, Security and Democracy, stated at a press conference:
"They have now jointly indicated plans to acquire a total of at least 3 million next-generation AI processors."

Virkkunen added that 76 companies have submitted proposals to establish large AI factories at 60 different locations across 16 EU member states. These proposals come from both European and non-European companies.

Led by Jensen Huang, Nvidia (NVDA.US) is the major manufacturer of AI accelerators. According to various research firms, Nvidia’s market share is estimated to be between 70% and 95%. AMD (AMD.US), led by CEO Lisa Su, holds a much smaller share of the AI accelerator market.

In March, the European Commission announced plans to allocate $23 billion to build four AI “super factories” across the EU. The Commission intends to announce the exact locations of these factories by the end of the year.
